Producer. Writer. Director. Performer. Teacher. Etc... As it pertains to being a multi-faceted creative, I'm pretty much the epitome. Though this is not to brag on how talented I am. Being multi-faceted emerges from the need for me to create when there aren't many, if any, resources at my disposal.
It all began with me growing up in the VHS era and being exposed to different art forms on TV. What drew me in most were stories, especially in films. I watched them all the time and studied how they're made. At one point, I owned over 500 VHS tapes of films that I catalogued in a Rolodex. I had my own video store!
My interest led me to Temple University's Film & Media Arts program, where I studied production. My time there culminated in the creation of my first short film, a musical, titled "Dreamsong." I continued my film studies at American University, in its Producing for Film & Video program. Around this time, I created my second short film, "2nd Shift"; and began writing what would eventually be my first feature film, the award-winning "LUV Don't Live Here."
I've always been an admirer of theater and the performing arts, having utilized elements of both in "Dreamsong." So, it was only a matter of time that I would embrace my performer id. I fostered this skill, and other theater skills, in Villanova University's theater program; and at a host of regional and community theaters.
With over two decades of triumphs (and defeats) under my belt, I felt a strong desire to give back. So, I began teaching; and this easily became the most demanding area in my career portfolio. I am thankful to God, because had it not been for the strenuous journey before it, I'm certain that I wouldn't be the impactful teacher that I am.
To some, it may seem as if I juggle a lot. But trust me when I say that everything is beautifully connected. It all sets the stage for me to become an even more realized and useful servant for others.
